The role
We are looking for a rounded and progressive Senior Strategist – someone with proven ability to shape and sell solutions to client challenges, and who has a firm grip on how developments in digital culture are changing and shaping audience behaviours and expectations.
At Gravity Road our start point is understanding audiences; how they spend their time and what they spend their time thinking about. The person we are looking to bring into the team has at least 5 years’ experience in Strategy & Planning, understands how brands grow, how campaigns that genuinely turn dials (vs ‘are good enough’) are put together, knows how to reach audiences across digital platforms (not just Facebook and Twitter, but Tik Tok and emerging Metaverse spaces), and has the charisma and energy to share a POV and fit culturally with Gravity Road. Above all this, we are looking for a person who understands the direction the industry is travelling in, and is excited by the prospect of working at the more progressive end of Strategy (i.e. looking forwards to a new tech-powered era, and not longingly back to the world of ATL brand-building.)
You’ll be a self-starter who is naturally curious and imaginative, loves working out what makes people tick and how technology is changing the world. You may have an appetite to operate with greater autonomy and in closer proximity to senior clients and creative directors, free from bureaucratic layers slowing you down.
You will join a small & energetic team of audience-first thinking Strategists (Brand and Creative), and platform-first thinking Planners (Connections and Performance) supported by data-first Insight Analysts. Upon joining, you will work on 2 x retained accounts (most likely Tik Tok and Smart Energy GB) and in time support on pitches and other projects.
What you’ll get up to
- Producing market maps, category oversight reports and competitive reviews at pace.
- Working with the Insight Analyst to dig out fresh cultural and audience insights.
- Working with Connections and Performance Planners to align media/channel strategy with brand/creative strategy.
- Being the expert on your client’s category, fielding audience and category knowledge to the wider account and client team & informing reactive content opportunities.
- Developing and selling-in campaign/positioning strategies.
- Writing creative briefs and shaping creative development
- Contributing to a culture of effectiveness by analysing campaign results, tracking and measuring against set metrics, and making future recommendations.
- Supporting the agency’s new business efforts by contributing to pitches, speculative proposals and RFPs
What you need
- A foundational understanding of how people consume media in its various forms and the psychology behind why people use social/digital platforms. You are fundamentally curious and always ask: how will someone see the work? Why will they care? What will compel them to act?
- You will have a strong knowledge of traditional brand planning, and impressive experience of developing successful brand and campaign strategies that you will be able to share in Interviews.
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and colleagues from different disciplines, including other agencies, and partner companies.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once and work under pressure.
- Must be a self-starter whose first instinct is to solve problems independently, but you know when to actively work with others in a collaborative effort to find solutions.
- You are a team player – you understand a client’s needs may change quickly and that we have to be able to respond thoughtfully at equally rapid pace.
- You are skilled at participating in strategic discussions both internally and with clients.
- Must be adept at deskside research - a professional Googler who knows how to get to real sources of applicable/relevant data quickly…familiarity with digital analytics tools and social platform resources is preferred (especially BrandWatch).
